After heavy front end damage in June this year I am now well into restoration of the TR4a.
The damage was the result of an off-track excursion, so not covered by insurance, which means finances may slow me down as much as the amount of work to be done.
I have got the grille, front valance, all 4 fenders hood soft top and interior out of the car, all springs removed calipers, radiator crossmember and left front suspension.

I have purchased a new complete bodyshell and chassis, which will be sand blasted, primed and painted, then my trim and mechanicals will be refurbished and transferred.
If money allows, (my son goes to university next year) a new carpet set and softtop will complete the restoration.
Hope to be done end of next summer!

Uggh...big project...good luck! Looks like it will shape up to be a cold and wet winter, so not much opportunity to use a TR between now and summer anyway.

You're giving me a push to buy a TR4 I found -- running overdrive car with a parts car. Some rust, so would need some resto. But the price is --- $2500 firm! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Did a total body off down to frame restor. to a 67 4A over the last 6 years. A little bit of money at a time keeps the wife around and not too cranky about you spending more time in the garage than with her on walks and chick stuff. But kept up the promise of nice summer drives in our LBC. It worked!! Project completed this year and having a great time of it. If I can be of any help in any way just ask. Have lots of pictures for part positions and colors etc. Took two cars apart to put one back on the road to original specs. Just out of curiousity. Did you buy from a vendor or did you know where one sat that could be used.
 
Winston, I bought the donor car from a guy who had a number of LBCs stored in barns on his property. He offered two 4a's, but the other one was live axle so the chassis really not what I was looking for.
I could also have bought all the panels I needed from a different source and used my tub, but the qy\uality of his stuff was mixed, some rust and dents on most panels, plus my cars tub is not as good as the one I bought.
What is a shame is that he would only sell the donor as a unit, my car has many good panels like doors, trunk and rear wings (fenders) which I didn't need, so will try to sell to offset some expenses!

Where are you having the work done? Not in your garage I wouldn't think, especially with the Spitty there. Is it in Mississauga? I would love to come take a look at the progress.
