Restoration progress

The car had been off the road for many years. We bought it in 1997, and proceeded to think about restoration. It has been in a lot of peices since that year. Finally, the body has been primed, the engine is mostly together the frame shines in it's new bright powder blue paint. Maybe, just maybe, it will be at Triumphest. I've been promising my wife that it would be ready for the next Tiumphest since 1998. I hope I can deliver on the promise. T.T.

Hi T.T.,

Have you got pictures posted somewhere? Or can you upload a few attachments here? Would love to see your project.

(Besides here, www.triumphowners.com is another great place to register your vehicle and post pics, if you wish)

Patience is a virtue! These things take time. My car was in storage from 1986/87 to 1999. Then I got the bug to resto it again (1st rolling restoration was done in 1979). However, I really didn't have much time to work on it until last October/November. Have made a lot of progress since, but still a lot I want to do! If possible, I'd like to have it back on the road next year. Geez.... that will be about it's 20th anniversary since it last prowled the streets!

Cheers and congratulations on your progress so far!

Update... Tillie, as my wife calls the car, will not be ready for Triumphest, but it is so much farther along. I painted the body two weeks ago and last week my friend Marie gave the job a thumbs up. Then we looked for flaws and found a few, but nothing that would indicate a total repaint. (Whew!) I spent today working on the three or four spots. One only got worse:( so I figured it was time to knock off for the day. We made sort of a paint booth in the garage by suspending bedsheets aroune the car. It works better than the newspapers we used several years ago.
