Re: hey guys can u give me your thoughts on this p

There is a world of difference in the two cars. The second car would be my choice; it has better resale potential than the first and it is already a "driver". You will have to wrestle with the price difference.

I see the first one as a project of multiple years and therefore not a driver for some time. I would not be happy driving it with it jumping out of first gear. So the first project would be the transmission. You could probably drive it around the block and down the road a mile or two after that, but what are you going to drive while you're fixing the rusty bits?

It always comes down to budget. They are both gonna cost a bunch of money. I think both, truthfully, exceed your $15,000 budget, if you want to put them "right".

Re: hey guys can u give me your thoughts on this plz

I would want to have a look at it from the underside. In person, before I would bid.
Also I belive he left a number out of the vin (7)
Wouldn't take long to probably spend another 20 k plus in repairs. Just my opinion without seeing up close. Bob
I would think out of the 2 the bj8 would be better

Hi Soren, The blue BJ8 will sell for more than your maximum offer. However, it appears to be a very good original one.---Fwiw---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Re: hey guys can u give me your thoughts on this p

It will cost more than the second car is worth to get the first car even close to the second. Save a bit more and get a car in good condition.

Soren - I think the group will line up behind the BJ8 - project cars are fun, but driving drivers are funner. My project car is still a project for too many years-BN4, while the driver-BN1 gets the job done and is easier to explain to the family.

These are very different cars. The first will still need a great deal of work, while the second seems to need no work at all.

A decent Healey is going to cost more than $15K total. You can either pay it up front and get a good one to start with... or you might do as I am doing and start with a project and put the money into it over a period of time while doing the work yourself, if you can. I don't think that a project car makes economic sense unless you can do substantial amounts of the work yourself AND you get some enjoyment from doing it.

Five more days and at 20 1/2 K. Reserve not met. This will go big. My guess would be 29 1/2 K. What is everyon's guess? At least there is no 8% B-J commision.

I guess the reserve is set at ~ $25K TH,But that would be all I would be willing to pay for the car.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif
