Replacing Windshield/Body Gasket

IS there some special trick for removing and replacing the Windshield / body gasket. Got a spare windshield with a crap gasket on it. Gasket on Bugsy's old windshield is still good if I can get it off and transfer it to the newer windshield. Old gasket is still is good shape. Would like to save if possible. Does the bottom come apart some way to sandwich the gasket in there?

Use dish washing liquid in a squirt bottle. Check to see if the frame is crimped at the end of the slot. Good Luck, the rubber may look good until you start to push and pull on it...

When I recently changed the windshield I also replaced the windshield/body gasket without problems. I had the side frame off and it just slipped into the track when I wet it a little.

Not sure if you don't have the side frame off how difficult it would be to slid along but I image it would be a chore.

OK someone give me a quick primer on taking off the side frame. That's what I thought.

I looked in the garage for my new windshield /frame gasket this afternoon. And of couse since there has been 2 moves since I last saw it, it is in that mysterious box someplace. I know it is in the garage but just exactly where remains to be seen.

Got the side frame piece figured out. Got it all apart and the lower mouilding gasket slid right out. Now to see if I can do the same with old windshield frame tonight and save the what appears to still be a good gasket.
