replacing the interior

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered my interior.
I ordered the seat covers and carpet from Prestige and the panels and other bits from Mirror Trim. It seemed to take a lot of work to come up with the bits needed to do the complete job. Added to that was to get things in the colors I wanted.
At one point I had planned on getting the interior kit with the leather faced seats from Mirror Trim. The price was reasonable but they are so busy they can't even keep up with their e-mails to answer questions. I also did not like the carpet colors they offered.
I like the Prestige seat kits with the map pockets on the seat backs. I also like the color choices better. I ordered bisquit with BRG piping and carpet edging.
So now I am hoping it will meet expectations.

Well, darn it.... you guys had to remind me that I am still needing to replace the trim panels in my car.... I had been reticent to go out and go with a Moss or Prestige set for my car, since I didn't want to 'overspend' on it, after having to have the hood fixed and the car painted, due to the hood release not catching and the hood flying up at 35mph.

I just ordered a trim panel set from mirror trim.... since they were 'reasonably' priced (at least $150 less than Moss, wince my 1969 is a 'special' one-off year, according to them). I contemplated going with a lighter color panel set, but since I didn't want to have to change the seat covers, I went ahead and went back with black... hope I don't regret that.

Once I get the kit and get it installed, I will updated here.

Larry, I understand the money issue and I think you have a very good point. For me, I have put so much in this car that I feel compelled to finish it. And the way I am doing it is only a little more than a complete kit from Mirror Trim or VB.

Just an update to my last comment on this thread. I did order the panel set from Mirror Trim in the UK, on 2/28. After a month of waiting, it is supposed to be delivered today. I will update this thread with comments on the Panel delivery and my opinion on the panels, once they finally arrive.

I also placed my order with Mirror Trim on 2/28 for the panel kit, seat foams, and a few other things. Got word that it finally shipped yesterday (3/28). I was told 2-3 weeks or less. When I inquired about the complete interior kit I was told 5-6 weeks minimum. Glad I didn't go that route.

Got busy and meant to update... The panel set from Mirror Trim looks GREAT!, even though I haven't really installed it yet. I didn't order the trim screw set, only the clips... so I need to get those before completing the install. The only question, which I have to get back to Mirror Trim, is that it appears that the two pieces (L&R) that fit over the wheel well humps appear to have the legs that goes over the hump and back towards the Trunk panel a bit short, leaving a small area of the body metal exposed....

I am also pleased with mine. The dash cover came from Moss, the carpet and seat covers from Prestige, and the panels and other bits from Mirror Trim. The color matches are better than I had hoped for and I am anxious to get started with installation. Larry, did you get a couple feet of extra piping? I am wondering what it might be for?

Tom, sorry for the delayed response. Yes, I did receive the extra length of piping and extra cover material. My assumptions are as follows:
1. My door panels are slightly different from yours, as I have a an open area in the upper center area of each panel that is an access panel for the interior workings of the door hardware. This access panel needs to have material cut and covered before replacing it... or some people end up painting them. If the panel gets covered in material, the extra piping can be used on that.
2. The Door top rails, where the window felt is, get covered with material and some people might go overboard and add piping to the lower potion of that to highlight the door panel piping.
3. The center radio.light console gets covered in material...I guess one could just add some there for variety..

Or...

It could just be a diabolical scheme to confuse us all...since there are no instructions not even IKEA pictures) for the kits... which is probably intended, since they believe anyone who owns a spridget must be all-wise,all-knowing, brilliant deductive reasoning people, able to figure out any situation... given the constant attentiveness required for owning such a fine little beastie!

Good Luck... and, if you find out other applications for the extra piping, please share with the rest of us.... as long as they meet Basil's code of conduct guideline...:angel2:

Hi Larry, I asked Paul at Mirror Trim about the piping. He told me that several have requested it after receiving the panel kit so they just started including it with the kit. He said there is no special suggestion as to where it might be used.
I have started the seats amd it is going well. Had to order new back boards to finish them. I am doing the first one and saving the second one for a tech session this Saturday. The most challenging part is replacing the head rest covers.

I finally got the backboards for my seats. Although too late for the tech session that was planned I did finish one seat and am happy with the result. I do like the map pocket on the back. It should be handy with the limited stowage space in the car to begin with. Still planning on doing the second seat for a tech session in the near future.

Looks like they turned out great, Tom.
