I will be replacing one of my exhaust manifold studs this Saturday. The question is Loctite Y/N? If Y which one?

Also Torque for Exhaust Manifold Bolts, got 6 new shiny brass ones and cleaned up studs to install them on.

I don't know about the studs themselves but the brass nuts are listed as needing 15 lb/ft. Good luck.

No real need for Loctite but 242 (medium) would be fine for peace of mind.

Hey Jim,
I just wanted to pass on this information that I learned from 2 MG mechanics that were up in northest Ohio that I would chat with regularly when I would see different MG's show up for work. The head work was pretty regular. Both mechanics would by the head hardware from Victoria British / Moss. They always talked about issues with getting the correct torque on these things and at times would have to return them cause the quality and thread pich / cut was not correct. I had a lathe machinist who cut threads all his life investigate some of these and he would mic them and find the threads to be sloppy / shallow which will not give you the torque you need and at times snap off in the block trying to do so. Its a bit extra work but a grade 8 bolt can be purchased and with some machinist / lathe work made into these studs. Just something I wanted to share as it always seem to come up with these mechanics. I also dont want to bad mouth VC or Moss, its just alot of stuff comes from over sea's anymore and the quality isnt there. Good luck.

Check McMaster/Carr for replacements, too. By length, diameter and thread pitch.

ISTR that Doorman has 'em in various length/diameter/pitch as well.
