TR2/3/3A Replacement Temperature Gauge

I've just broken the tube to the temp gauge and let the gas out when I removed the dash cluster. Doh!:grumpy: I realize that you cant get these anymore. Anyone know of a good substitute that looks more or less like the original besides the Moss aftermarket one? I might go with the Moss one but am curious as to what others have used.
 
I got mine from an ebay seller (in Italy?). You send yours back as a core.
It looks OEM with a very slight difference, and works fine.

There is a website that describes how to repair the capillary tube (involves dry ice and some ether as I recall). Never tried it but sounds doable and interesting. For parts I believe some auto parts places sell a generic cap tube gauge that can provide a bulb and tube. The site I am thinking of may have been for a gauge on an old Plymouth.

There is a guy selling on ebay a modified aftermarket gauge that looks really nice.
I sent my original to Nisonger for repair which cost 135.00 plus shipping..which is a good option.
I bought one from Harbor Freight for under $30 that fit the opening correctly. It had a stainless rim and didn't match the chrome or style of the original but was not a sore thumb. Used it until I spent the bucks to get the original repaired.
There is a thread on here somewhere about taking the tube from a aftermarket and soldering it onto the original gauge. Involves putting the bulb in ice to liquefy the ether and splicing the tube together....Not something I felt capable of doing myself.
