TR2/3/3A Replacement of Engine Coolant Drain

Any thoughts on removing and replacing the coolant drain plug on the engine block of a TR3. The original is leaking through the plug body where the handle swivels to open and close the drain, so I purchased a replacement from Moss Motors. Has any one removed the drain without first removing the carbs. While it appears to a straight mechanical removal (drain screws into the engine block), the lack of working space may make the removal of the carbs necessary.

I’ve done it many times without removing other parts. The only issue is i bet money the replacement will leak out if the package. Goop it with thick grease and it will likely seal.

Might be pretty tough, depending on how corroded the joint is and how fat your arms are. I have to take a fair amount of stuff off just to get my hand down in that area.
