TR4/4A Removing wiper motor - inner cable

Folks,

I'm removing the wiper motor from my Tr4a. I unscrewed the drive nut and can see the inner drive cable. However when I try to remove the motor, the inner cable comes with it. The shop manual seems to indicate that the inner cable is withdrawn with the motor. Is this correct, or can the inner cable be disconnected from the motor?

thanks

Jim

Hi Jim,

If it is like the TR6 motor, then you unscrew the flat cap on the motor where the wiper cable goes into. I think three are about 4 or 5 small screws. Lift off the cap. There is a square boss on the end of the wiper cable that fits on to the gear wheel. You can lift the cable off and the motor should be free.

Cheers

This is to late to help you ----but you should mark or take note of the location where the gear wheel was so you can get it back in the same position. This determines where the wipers park themselves in the off position. You can still do this by trial and error when you put it back together. But it will be the trial and error method.

Thanks Charlie. I take pictures as I disassemble stuff, (I learned this the hard way), so I should be good.
