Removing the engine tips...

Ok, Looks like this Friday is the day for me to remove the race 948 engine from the bugeye. I will remove the hood, but is it necessary to remove the radiator? Any other tricks I should be aware of for this? I will be installing a jet coated header then I am having an exhaust fabricated.

Will the header require me to remove the carbs and intake or just loosen them? I seem to remember that the gasket is one for both, which should probably be replaced anyway.

With the new Taylor gearbox, I assume I will need to install the clutch line to it before I install it all back in the car?

Remove bonnet, remove radiator, remove the manifold bolts, set the intake and carbs back up and away after you pull the fuel line and vacumn advance line, pull the exhaust to the side and secure, remove the front tail pipe clamp first.

Then the rest, motor and tranny mounting bolts, shifter, I always pull the dizzy, starter and grounding strap, and the clutch clevis pin so you can remove the slave cylinder when part way out and tie it off to the side as well(as soon as you can get to the bolts.

Two and a half hours start to on the bench.

And don't forget the ground strap!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
