TR2/3/3A Removing Temp gauge Middle panel TR3A

There are 2 knurled nuts holding the clamp on the back of the gauge. That gets the guage out. The capillary tube has to be unbolted from the engine, and then at least 2 clamps holding the tube under the dash have to be removed. Then you have to carefully feed the tube as you pull the gauge. It can be carefully bent as needed, but if crimps it will be ruined.

No, it is definitely not easy!?!

Good luck...

My reply is in the other post where this was asked.

FWIW -- are you removing it solely to paint the center panel? I once painted that panel with the correct wrinkle paint w/o taking the temp gauge all the way off. I just undid the gauge and fed enough of the cap tube out to get the gauge a foot or so forward. Then undid the panel and suspended it there hanging in space. Painted it and used a heat gun to get the wrinkles I wanted.

See Russ Austin's post for the fun part about undoing the cap tube from the thermostat housing. OTOH, you might get lucky!
