TR2/3/3A Removing old contact cement

Evening! I am getting ready to put new vinyl on all of the capping parts. In looking at all of the parts I notice that the contact cement was applied with a bit of excessive zeal at the factory. I need to get the old dry cement off of the parts. what has anyone used to take care of the problem? I have heard mineral spirits and gas as a solution. Not too keen on using gas and have not tried the mineral sprits. Will be working on it tomorrow.
You thoughts and suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Tinkerman

When I worked in my grandfather's cabinet shop, we used lacquer thinner. Goof Off would probably work, too.

Lacquer thinner works great and wear rubber gloves! Since the rag you use will clog up frequently rotate often...burlap works well.
