Removing headrests

OK, now that I know about the recliner handle, how do I remove the headrests? Am about to replace the driver's seat covering and need to know before I damage something. Will have a spare passenger seat covering kit when done. What do I do with that?

ummm. They just pull out. You really have to yank on them. There is a little spring load thing in the head rest channel that over time gets gummed up. Only thing I can say is YANK! Just make sure you don't boink your face with the headrest when it finally breaks free! You'll see what I mean! lol!

Will try. Any other ideas out there? WD40 doesn't sound too great but has anyone tried it? Or maybe liquid soap? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

A little WD40 may help. I remember I used PB Blaster, but I was also replacing my foams, so I didn't care if it soaked into the foam rubber.

Just push it all the way down and give it a good snatch up. It will pop out. Just watch your face... don't ask me how I know! lol! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

If you are taking the covers off anyway just pull the back one up under the headrest and then take off the cardboard backer on the back of the frame, This will reveal the spring catch that holds the post for the head rest and it can be easilly actuated and then the back cover can come off.
Most seat kits I've seen come with new backer boards anyway??? If not, it is available at most auto upholstery shops cheap.

Yeah I remember having trouble getting them out of the LE...I used a bit of WD-40 and YANKED! I might be wrong but there is a little pointy stopper(spring loaded) near the bottom of the post the usually gets stuck.

For every problem, there seems to be at least one, usually several people with a solution. Thank you all,

Guinn
