removing center section from the dash on my BJ8?

Greetings,
I am redoing the interior of my 64 BJ8. I need to remove the center section of the dash to complete the job. There are 8 small screws on the inside that are almost impossible to get at. Is there an easier way to accomplish this daunting task?
