Remove the dash pad

I am about to change out my windscreen. I ordered a newer frame and windshield glass from Britanniclassics and ,thanks to the forum had them install the new seals to the glass and frame to shroud. Do I have to take out the glove box to get to the clips holding down the dash pad. What is the best way for going about this?

On my BJ8, there are two clips one on the far right over the glove box door, and one on the far left over the fuel guage, that bend over the metal. Just remove the rear view mirror and bend the clips out. No need to remove the glove box.

I had to lossen the bolts for the metal angles (Moss #633-658) that hold the dash wood to the door pillar in order to free the edges of the dash.
Be careful while removing the windshield. I believe it's common for the bolt in the center of the dash that screws into a 'nut-cert' to freeze and spin the nut-cert out.

HI TH, The center hold down for the BJ8 windscreen was originally rubber and a magmet will not do you much good.It consists of a threaded rubber bushing bonded to a threaded core. They are called "Well Nuts" and are readily available at most discount auto parts stores as well as marine stores . The size you want utilizes a 1/4" bolt.they come in NC as well as NF thread. replacing one only required that you pop it in the empty hole in the scuttle and tighten up the bolt. Lot easier on the old back you know---FWIW---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I suspected it was not original. One of the Healeys on Ebay currently appears to have the chrome tab mounted on top of the padded dash.

Oh yes TH, I saw that ,but it seems those folks on E-Bay do all kinda silly things thinking the rest of the car world is as silly as they are.---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
