on the TR4A. How difficult is it to remove the old bushings once the trailing arm has been lowered?Does the bushing have a metal tube insert? What's the best way to press the new ones in?
Yes there is a metal tube. I used nuts on a threaded rod with various washers to pull them out and pull the new one in. Takes a bit of effort and mine were off the car. Some silicone grease may help with the new ones.
I concur with the Poly VS rubber,plus ease of install on the poly, My first replacement on the 250 (2004) was the rubber and getting them out was something else and pressing the new rubber back in was a bummer. Put Poly in 2 years ago, what a breeze. IMHO
Is it possible to change out the bushings with the trailing arms still in the car? The floors are out now for replacement so I can get at the bushings from above. Would I be able to lower the trailling arm a few inches without stressing the Diff mounts?
