There was a time when would have snickered at this comment. Unfortunately, too many cars come with "Day light Driving Lights" as a standard feature. Theory, I guess, is that with headlights on you're less likely to be hit by someone else. However, it is my opinion, head lights on during the day or not an inattentive driver will hit you if you let them.

Why do people speak louder to blind people?
 
Here in Canada daytime running lights are mandatory on all cars since<whatever date this was passed, late 90's I believe> some cars now even have the full lighting system on at all times....In my Jag(canadian version) you can't turn the lights off(trust me I have tried)not sure why they even bother with a switch as it does nothing.

I'd argue that one my friend. My wife is German and her whole family are very loud. The Germans seem to speak from way down in the the diaphram, whereas we Yanks generally speak from our voice boxes.

Having grown up with a Vietnamese mother... I can confirm that us 'yanks' pale in comparison to a gathering of Viets. They tend to project from the diaphram and pinch it at the nassal passage. So, not only do you get volume, you get that wonderful gutteral + nassally sound. It hurts my ears to no end to listen to them speak their native tongue for any amount of time. I don't care how old of a family friend they may be I always leave the room when they stop speaking English.
