Words written by a fellow camera club member, regarding an upcoming club photo exhibit we're putting together, I don't take "cute" photos :hammer: or for that matter traditional "stunning" nature photos, my specialty is a little more on the grungier side of things, anything wrong with that?

Trying to decide which street photography image to submit within 45 minutes, the deadline for entries, and I really don't care what other people think...

Now back to the task at hand... :rapture:

Maybe I didn't go gritty enough, had to decide quickly...

I did consider this one from a few years ago... I've always liked it but I have a problem with how a matte cuts too much off the bottom making it too tight to the bottom of the pole, and that is the bottom of the original photo, I already know that from before... :concern:

This one was also on the short list... Something about the piece of iron in the upper left corner concerned me enough, might look worse on a big print...

There were some others, I could have submitted some non-street photos but that's not the point if they truly want some diversity from all the club members... Yes, I do need to make my point... I already feel like I don't get enough respect from them... :hammer:

Nice composition.
caught in the act of being everyday humans.

I especially like the rainy boulevard: leaves one to wonder, will the guy with the umbrella stub his smoke , step out & offer shelter to the girl?

Another thing about the umbrella guy of the rainy boulevard :
it appears he's lost a digit on his left little finger.....maybe he is a young old car guy.

that's a narrow street, no signs, no cars. Is it in Calgary?

As much as I like the old Oldsmobile, I also really like the umbrella photo.

Yup... Stephen Avenue (8th Avenue) downtown is a pedestrian only street during the daytime, for several blocks... They do allow parking along it and driving along it in the evening...
