Hey again everyone. I've been a member here for a few years but don't post a whole lot since I chose a Jensen Healey as my first LBC (see signature) and they don't get talked about much here. Now, there's a new addition to the family. Well, actually two for now. I now own (2) 1958 AMC Metropolitans (1957 was the last year for the Nash branding).

I brought home the black and white one (Met #1, 1958 coupe) a few weeks ago for next to nothing, and tried to convince myself that it was restorable. The floors and underframing are pretty much gone, so it would have been a huge undertaking.
Then, fate struck. Discovered Met #2 (the yellow/white one, 1958 coupe conversion to convertible) on the Met forum.

Drove down, looked, negotiated, arrived at a price that was fair to everyone, and picked it up this past weekend. It's an abandoned project which is mostly complete (body work and paint done by previous owner) and just needs to be reassembled. All the parts appear to be there and in good nick, other than the convertible top and rails (which the previous owner never procured, but I've got a few lines out on them already).
So, Met #2 is going to be my winter project. Met #1 is basically going to act as a parts car if needed and as a template for how everything goes back together. Wish me luck... though I expect this to be a much simpler project than my Jensen Healey was since most of the heavy lifting (body work and paint) is already done.
You might find me hanging around various forums here since there's a lot of shared stuff here (MGA engine, Spridget underpinnings, etc)
