Paying $900.00 a gallon for Jaguar Regency Red paint. I was told that because it has 5 colors in it along with pearl, is why it's cost is high. Any clues on this? PJ

I was told by a local auto paint store that red pigment was the most expensive color but why it is so valuable he didn't know.

I recall when purchasing stained glass that red was much more expensive. The reason I was given was that it contained gold.

I would not think the number of colors/tints would have anything to do with price. Certainly the shop that painted mine (Regency Red) didn't balk at the cost of paint nor comment on it.

George, my painter didn't balk either! :highly_amused: He just smiles when I give him some money! :excitement:. Should get the tub and a few bits this week, hopefully. PJ

I had to get a mix for a Land Rover Discovery which had 12 colors mixed in it. The Range Rover had Beluga Black that had gold and silver in it with a slew of other colors. Was supposed to be impossible to match. Paint is expensive not matter what you get anymore. A few hundred for a qt. is hard to swallow sometimes for a patch. Imagine custom colors.
