Hi

Any ideas re turn signal, light and OD stalks? They are presently covered with a black plastic coating. Problem is the coating is nicked-up so simply repainting is not an option.

I was thinking of heat shrink tubing but, I think the knobs on the end of the stalks are too large to slip over an appropriate sized heat shrink. Any idea if the knobs are threaded on and can be removed from the end of the stalk?

What about carefully removing the remainder of the coating and then paint them?

It's a possibility, I think. I just don't have any indication if that would be work (ie. surface under the plastic coating is decent). Wanted to check other options first.

Thanks

Bob

That's encouraging. Maybe just slice it with a razor and peel it off? How's the surface underneath?

Steel can be polished to resemble chrome. It involves locked DA sander and 1500 paper.
Great care MUST be taken with your fingers paper cuts from DA paper are nasty.
Just clear coat the steel to preserve the finish.
In the past I recreated the plastic end bit on an otherwise good turn switch.Carved from
an old toothbrush . when done it fooled 100% of all the judges.

The various knobs can also be reproduced using epoxy like JB WELD.

Your talking to a guy who has done entire steering wheels from epoxy. (On a super rare one)
This took over 30 hours as the inner layers were fiberglass & epoxy done in sections.Outer layers
were done in structural epoxy, the last layer was flexible bumper epoxy to recreate the finger nibs
(13 in each 1/3 section of the wheel). Some wheels are not reproduced........
