Reduction starter question for 1500

Has anyone put one of those reduction starters on their 1500 and if so did you have difficulties fixing it?

Also is there really that much of an advantage to them over the stock starter? I am looking at one for around $189 from British Starters.com. While in the Moss catalog a regular starter goes for either $140 for new one or $210 for a rebuilt lucas one. Why is lucas so much more expensive? It seems really expensive for a regular starter if I can get a reduction starter for about the same cost.
