Red, white and tan covert tops aftermarket 60's?

I have a black 65 Tr4a, I will never show the car but have always been a fan of keeping them original as possible. I might make an exception on this car because its black with the red interior/white piping.
I think it would look nice with a red or white top. Not that I would really drive it top up unless caught in rain.

Thought?

I also have a period piece luggage rack that has a peace sign in the center, I was planning on an original style rack but now think its kinda cool that this was made durring the time.

I think a white top would look sweet.

Do you have a Heritage certificate for your car? My 66 TR4A, Triumph Racing Green with black interior came from the factory with a white top.

PS Can you post a picture of your luggage rack?

yes I will take a shot and post it, its quite cool now that I look at it more.

wow, I didn't know that anything but black came from the factory.

White tops were rather popular in the 1960s, as were white tonneau and "hoodstick" covers. But other colors were sometimes popular in the aftermarket as well. I think even companies such as AMCO might have offered other colors at times, and I do remember (as a young teenager) falling in love with a black, bumperless MG Midget with wire wheels and a red tonneau cover! (Sorry, didn't mean to use that word [MG] on this forum. )

Shoot, from the subject line I was thinking you had a red, white and tan convertible top. I too would like to see the peace sign luggage rack (can really picture it on a VeeDub).

Anyway, if you do not already have one -- ordering a white top would also be an opportunity to get a top with a zip out rear window. I did this and really like it for longer (sunny) road trips with the wife on board.

The 1968 JC Whitney catalog lists white, black, tan, red, blue, and green for the convertible tops. A "Best Super" vinyl top with triple windowns would have cost you $41.95.
Prestige Auto Tops come in now around $330+; guess it's gone up a bit.

Back "then" it was "just" a car and so changes like the lights didn't get a second thought. I'd be inclined to leave them as they are now "vintage" and even "period correct"!
