TR6 Red TR6 Badge option for Grille

Brosky

This may not fit everyone's tastes, especially the purists, but just to appeal to those who like red engines (me and Don), I had a spare badge enameled in RED just to be different.

Stripped of all finish:

Plated before enameling:

After enameling and polishing:

Nobody's gonna tsk tsk on that one Paul - its gorgeous! When you say enameling, is that just a normal paint shoot and polish, or are you doing something closer to a powder coat/bake operation? I like!

Randy, it is a jewelry manufacturer type application then a bake process in an oven. Then it has too be polished to smooth it out, but carefully, so as to not ruin the chrome.

It is a very hard finish, as close as possible to the cloisonne original, which require the application first, then plating, so most platers won't touch it or guarantee that they won't screw up the cloisonne.

Looks good, Paul. I also like the grey background; maybe do a version of just the TR6 in red? Probably more difficult.....

Just my opinion, but I'd color the letters/number Black.
Or even the background in Black.

- Doug

Doug, stock background on the TR6 grille emblem is black, that's why I did this. And for the constant ribbing from Don about the red engine....

Kevin, it's sort of a strip and start over, all or nothing, unless one used two different colors before baking, but that may be tricky. But it might be doable too.

Paul: Did you ever consider a "designer line" of TR accessories. I can see it now - The "Brosky Collection", a whole plethora a colors depending on your mood or the season!

p.s. I like the red. BL didn't have much imagination in certain areas.

Frank,

Only if BobbyD joins in the marketing plan....

Why? This is all your fault, in a manner of speaking, of course.

Objection overruled and you will be out of order if you keep this up.

That looks wicked nice. Bet red would look good with a British racing green car too =D

I know a jeweler who does enamel work, maybe I should pick up a spare badge and let them have a go at it for me.

Justin,

It would be nice to have another source, because my buddy is retiring and I don't think that he's looking for more work like this.

Very nice looking Paul. How about the rear name plate next. I think the early ones were cloisonne. Maybe even paint the car red.

Keith, Keith, Keith.......There are some things that even I couldn't do. Engines are one thing, but to ever consider defiling the Mimosa color is bordering on sacrilegious.

And my car doesn't have a rear name plate, just the Overdrive badge.
