What weight of Red Line oil should I put in the transmission and OD. Everyone seems to like Red Line so I am going with that unless someone thinks there is something better. Skip

MT90 not MTL90

Skip,

The problem is that SAE gear oils are viscosity rated at 100 degrees F, & motor oils are rated at 210 degrees F. Thus a 30 wt engine oil is very close to a 85 rated gear oil in viscosity.

Some GL5 oils, which are intended for rear axle use due to their higher zinc content, can damage the brass parts in a transmission which is intended for GL4 rated oils.

The RL GL4 is compatible with the brass transmission parts.

Either RL MT90 or RL MTL will work well in your transmission. The MTL is a slightly lower viscosity.
