On eBay is this TR6, with a very confusing description: <span style="font-style: italic">...desirable original color "Mallard"</span>! Granted, the photo of the commission number plate does show the correct paint code (106) for Mallard, but the car is <span style="color: #FF0000">Red</span>!

Friday fun....

Maybe it was a chemical reaction due to acid rain..

Looking at pics in the engine compartment,it was propably Mallard before the red repaint. Mallard is a very rich looking color when done right. Mallard black top,and tan interior..... Sweet combo.

:iagree:
...or Mallard GREEN w/hardtop and gray interior, like my first Spit...

I always see the references to Mallard blue. When I take the time to learn how to post photos, I'm going to post the 72 I had. <span style="font-style: italic">IT </span>was beautiful...\

Mallard is a "black" green, deep and rich, indeed. Especailly after a Blue Coral job...

A mallard duck or green head is a very dark green. the one behind it would be closer. That one would be closer to Merganser.

To me, Triumph's Mallard color is a green; however, Triumph definitely considers it a blue, in the "<span style="font-weight: bold">6</span>" class (all blue shades such as Wedgwood #2<span style="font-weight: bold">6</span> or Royal #5<span style="font-weight: bold">6</span> or Valencia #6<span style="font-weight: bold">6</span>).

pruddy, ain't it?

'was thinking of Mallard for my GT6 project, but decided Damson showed off the lines best.

I don't remember the actual numbers, but when my Mallard Blue was mixed, it was something like 85 parts green, 10 parts blue, and lesser parts of other colors.
Compare Mallard Blue with MG's Mallard Green, and there's a big difference. But nothing compared to the mallard in your photo!
It is a great color.

Mallard blue, or my version of it, it has significant changes in color with changes in the light, going from green blue to blue green. It should be done this year.

Note, for those with a discerning eye, the area above the bumper line will be sanded and painted matte black so I did not take much care when I shot the paint and clear in that area...

Ray,

That's a tight fit - how do you work on it that way?
Looks good!

Thanks Doug.

It's 8x16 with tarps all around that can be lifted for access from the sides. I have welded, sandblasted, painted, and buffed in there and for $200 compared to the $30,000 a garage would have cost, it has worked well and withstood 60+MPH wind gusts. That said, I do move things frequently and do a lot of work outside. (a garage would have beem nicer)

I shot the front and back in October. My plan was to get this done because it is easier off the frame then on. I also have to finish some paint cleanup work in the engine compartment, then get the tub back on the frame. As you can see the engine is in place.

Once the tub and frame are attached, I need to replace the driver's side rocker, skin the doors, then paint them, the bonnet, boot lid, and such.

I would have been further along were it not for termite damage discovered in November and repairs that the wife insisted I do first.

Wet and cold weather has set in, so before I tackle the tub and such, I plan to refurbish my carburetors, and see if the newly rebuilt engine actually works.

Then wait for spring.
