Well, I'm now two days out of surgery for my broken ankle, and so far so good. I've been following the doc's orders and keeping my foot up. Haven't needed the pain pills today, which is good. A bit of throbbing around the area but not much.

I'm not cleared to go back to work for a week or so, until after my post-op appointment. I'm already bored with sitting around, but will keep doing as I'm told. I want to heal 100% so I can be patient. Luckily as a programmer I can work from a couch, so I won't be too far behind at work -- and my work is very understanding.

I'm more annoyed that I'll miss the last Fall drives in the Tunebug. I'm going to have a friend help me get the car ready for winter, back up on the dollies. Got to get healed so I can be driving again!

Thanks again to all for the well wishes. They're appreciated.

I do web development (PHP) and database work for a school district.

I was in a similar position ~3 year years ago. Had the ankle and knee rebuilt (though I think they used cheap chinese parts, cause they're already wearing out). After about 3 days you get a little stir crazy.

I found netflix was my best friend. I watched TONs of car movies (everything from Vanishing Point, to Corvette Summer, to the Fast and the Furious). I also program, and ended up spending a lot of my time one that. Too bad you're not a .NET programmer, I could give you plenty to do.

If you *have* to get out in the garage, it's the perfect time to do that work either under the car or under the dash! I have one of those little rolling stools from harbor freight, makes a great leg elevator.

If they'd used British parts, your ankle and knee would be oozing oil!

lol. I'd prefer that! At least I'd match my cars and it'd keep me from rusting!

We've got netflix here, with a Roku box hooked up so we can stream to the TV. I'll watch a bit, work a bit, and try and get some serious practicing done. I was meaning to focus more on my playing this winter, and I guess this gives me a good head start.

Jody--I did ASP right before .NET came out. Switched over when working at the school, as they're more a unix/open source place.

I was curious. There are so many forms of programming. I started in '64 with Fortran and Cobol. And the last 20 years I did a lot of CNC machine programming. The last 12 years before retiring working from my home with my own consulting business.
