Sorry for the excessive babble. I've done a lot of car work before, but on cars I honestly didn't care as much about, and never pulled an engine before. So I am rambling on trying to include as much as might be relevent.

With my clutch recently going to the great beyond, and finding that I will absolutely have to pull the engine/tranny, I was wondering what else I should think about while I've got the lump and lumpette out? I am already planning on replacing the mounts and bushes, but what else might be a good idea to take care of at the same time? Would now be the time to think about that suspension upgrade? I do have both the Bentley's and the Haynes, so I can reference both of those for reccomendations, or corrections.

Oh, and while it is a 77, most, if not all, of the emmissions stuff has been removed, and I am running twin SU's, instead of the ZS.

For bonus points what exactly should I worry about as I do this? I plan on being completly anal, and having not only video documenting where what goes, but also making a check list for what when so I can be sure I get everything and reverse everything in the process.

Nervous? Extra Coffee? Me? Nah. I wouldn't know where you got that.
TIA.

One thing I can thing of, and if you're anal you may already do it, but chase the threads and using spankly-new fasteners for the stuff you're removing/re-installing. Especially the flywheel mouting bolts and the pressure plate bolts/holes.

Nope, I wouldn't have done that. Now I will. Should I use locktite or something like that? Probably not on the flywheel, but what about elsewhere?

If anywhere - on the flywheel-crank bolts and clutch plate-flywheel bolts...I always use the red stuff - but then again, I use an impact gun to remove that stuff. Not sure how tough it would be trying to stop the engine from turning while breaking free a loctited faster with a wrench or ratchet.

Thanks again!

As far as holding it still, a flywheel wrench with a fellow wretch on it should about do the trick.

While the engine and tranny are out, I would replace the folloing. Rear main seal, Engine and tranny mounts, Front seal on Transmission, front main seal and timing chain gasket. If you have an OD transmission, also replace the inhibitor switch.

As far as other concerns, the B engine comes out fairly easy. It's a nice big bay. Good luck and have fun! (Impress your neighbors and friends! lol!)
