Before undertaking the task of rebuilding the carb this weekend, I thought I would ask the experts for any tips or tricks they have used in the past. Also is there any kind of instruction book thats available on the internet? The one moss sent was great(none).

Thanks in advance

haynes has a carb rebuild manual I got from moss that discusses the webers, SUs and ZS carbs. I haven't read through it properly yet but it seems complete. would be a worthwhile investment ($16 or so)....

Does anybody know what the base settings are for the carbs?
(how many turns out)
Thanks

hhhmmm... Let's see what I can remember off hand. I hope this is all correct. The fine idle screw is 2.5 turns out and the corse idle screw is the same I believe but it would be easy to figure out, just play around with it. The base of the needle should be even with the botom of the piston. the idle speed screw should be turned untill the two faces of metal are 2.4mm apart (3/32 I think). Thats it I think. anymore questions? Here is part of my website on auto chokes if you want to take a look. I've done it a few times and wanted to help people take care of te choke(the hardest part) https://bellsouthpwp.net/a/d/adam90009/automatic%20choke.htm

Thanks Adam
When I rebuilt the carb, I printed off your write up of fixing the choke and followed it step by step. Very easy to do
Thanks again
