Rebuilding side curtains

So I am finally getting around to finishing the side curtains. I think just about everything that could go wrong, already has, such as, bought the wrong type of curtain, not Weathershields (another buy from ebay), tried to fit the felt as bought from AH Spares (way too thick), tried to install the AH Spares plastic (just a bit too thick), and I am down to fitting the "felt" I need to go to the fabric store as all my suitable shirts are plaid! So I have the outside window as the front one in the thin slot, and the inside window as the rear one in the wide slot. How does one fit the felt? Does it go all the way around in the wide slot, or just on the top and bottom. What have people used to hold it in place? Do you cut it to the proper width first, or after it is installed?
Cheers,
Scott in CA

Wide felt is pushed in with the plastic window from the side then trimed with a razor to fit if that makes sense. Yep, black felt from the wifes favorate fabric store workes great.

I bought my felt from Martin Macgregor. You can get info at his site. https://tinyurl.com/3lzv9e3 It is about 5/8" wide. It goes along the bottom then up the rear and back along the top to the front. I used a fabric glue from Joann Fabrics to glue the felt. I made my window portions out of 1/8" lexan.

Sounds like a winner to me. Wider felt will go in a bit easyer, but what ever works.
