hey all, I am having a brain fart at the moment. can someone tell me the numbers to look for to tell if a rearend is a 3.7 thanks in advance.
 
I am not sure if the numbers are there on all the rearend housings and I would not trust thos numbers if it was. Best way is to turn the drive shaft yoke and count how many yoke turns it takes to make one wheel revolution. The gear sets are far enough apart to tell them this way pretty easy.
 
Thanks Kim, I will give that a try and see what I get. I tried to do a search but could not find anything.
 
OK, I turned the shaft flange 3 3/4 turns to turn the wheel one turn so would that be a 3.7 rearend. also the numbers on it are ATA7241 11-41 if anyone can decipher that for me I would really be grateful thanks.

41/11 would be 3.7. Assuming the gears are original to the housing.

Yep that is a 3.7 for sure. Looks like you have an unmolested 3.7 diff.
 
Thanks guys that's just what I needed to know. It sure is great to have this forum with all the knowledgeable people to answer our questions.
