The never ending brake saga (see earlier Newbie - Soft Brake Pedal post).... I have just spent about two hours trying to remove the rear wheel cylinders from my 59 Bugeye. I have removed the shoes and unbolted the banjo fitting that holds the line to the cylinder. The handbrake rod is disconnected as well.
This is the type of rear wheel cylinder that slides in a slot on the backplate. I am able to slide it up and down the full length of the slot, but I cannot figure out how to work the cylinder out of the slot and clear the rear hub. I know there has to be a trick, I just cannot see it! Haynes and the Workshop manual are no help. They both talk about forward and rearward movement, but am clearly missing something in the process. Any guidance from this experienced list would be truly appreciated. I feel so close to my first road test...yet so far....
