Rear number plate ligth

Dear all

I read I d´ont remember where, something about a bad conection in the rear plate ligth can cause fire due to the no fuse installed.
My BT7 has this ligth disconected and I want to conected again.
Should I install a fuse or this history is an arabian tale.

Thanks

It is easy for the wire to short out where it goes through the car body if the insulator gets moved. Install an inline fuse in the boot for protection. while you are buying the fuse holders, you should consider fusing the head (both high and low beams) and tail lights as well. On my BJ8 I installed a second fuse holder and fused the OD and fuel pump for additional protection.
