TR6 Rear deck panel

Hello All :savewave::savewave::savewave:

I just bought a '73 TR6. Delv is scheduled for this coming Sat-Monday. The car was obviously re-painted & the "Rear Panel" is body color.

I've looked at a bunch of pics of '73s & most of them had the rear panel painted "Black".

Question; Should it be painted "Body color or a Flat Black"?

Thx, Russ

Yep, Black. Non necessarily flat though...more like a semi gloss. Are the rockers under the trim strip black as well? I find that a lot of the time the back is not painted, neither are the lower rockers. They were "shutzed" black.

Congrats on your purchase. You bought the best year :smile:

Cheers
Tush

Hi folks,

Thx for the info. I really can't tell clearly if the rockers are black or not but appear to be. I'm guessing "Shutzed" means a "Black Wrinkle" finish?

I had a '72 that had all of the above but just wasn't certain about a '73.

So again, Thx for the info. & I agree with yourself Tush, '73 is the best year.

Russ

Yep, a semi gloss black rear panel, and black under chrome strips on sides. Mine has rubberized undercoating on the rockers, and while not totally correct, they are protected.
