I know that originally this is covered (glued) with black vinyl. I have heard that you get this piece with and interior kit or carpet kit. can't remember which...
Alot of folks I talked to seem to complain that this piece is always the first to go after new upholstery..It's a combination of sun and wind..usually the glue comes apart and/or it starts looking bad before anything else in the interior..
Opinions wanted..
What about taking the vinyl off, cleaning it with lacquer thinner to remove the old glue. Then sanding it with some fine sandpaper and polish it. Is this piece stainless or aluminum? Or would it be better to polish it and leave it. I'm suggesting not covering it with vinyl and leaving it plain metal...maybe clear coat?
Has anyone seen any in just a metal state? Anyone have any pics?
I think it might look OK without covering it with vinyl..
Cheers,
