Hello all, I have a 73 Midget Im parting out. does anyone want me to cut out the little filler parts under the tailights to convert there RB cars to CB before I haul it to the crusher. it will only cost you shipping.

I'm looking for the piece behind the RR tire going up to the seam under the RR tailight. Usually that something that typically rusts out. But if it is good I can use it for Bugsy my '68. here is the small piece I need, Rest of panel is good. Left side I could use as well if it is good. Some bondo in there but otherwidse is still looking good . A future repair, Curve is just a little tricky to fabricate.

If you can separate them from what Jim wants, I'd be interested in the section under the lights....

You goin' CB?

I'd like to drop the bumpers all together...

Maybe do Nerf bars front and back for a while...

That's just nasty. Those taillights hang over that body like my belly over my belt.

Odd...they did a really good job with filling in the side markers. Wonder why they didn't make fillers for under the tail lights too?

Dude, you undoubtedly have the most clean and expensive RB car here. ~SOMEONE~ has to be the man in the RB world, and at this point, I'd say it's you. ~SOMEONE~ has to keep the faith ( despite the fact you put a 1275 in the car). So, sooner or later RB's are goint to disappear because folks keep cutting them up for parts or debumping them. WE (you and I) RB owners who have solid cars need to keep them as such so one day kids will know what a late 70's Midget is ~SUPPOSED~ to look like. ( when I say ~SOMEONE~, I don't mean you specificly, but you're already there)

That blue RB car in the commercial with the chic and and parking ticket is nice. It's good to see something like that. Makes folks like me not feel so bad about my big RB's.

Don't want RB's, no problem, get an earlier car. Your's is too nice to cobble up. ( IMHO of course.)

Now, wanna do something cool ~AND~ reversible with the back? Take a mandrel bend U piece of round tubing and cut a section out of the side to fill in the spot and have it chromed. Mount it under the tailight and it will look like a factory bumperette. I've thought about making one out of rubber.

JP says has has filler pieces I need in hand so feel free to give up the filler piece under the lights to someone else in need. Thanks all.

Appreciate the compliments, Kellysguy.... I figured the car has been bastardized already with the 1275, so why not go a little further with some modifications to the body. I'm trying to see if there is a way to make the tail light pieces reversible, in case I ever want to put the RBs back on (not likely). It would be nice to keep it as an option. I've seen some that are styro-foam and fiberglass that are glued on. Maybe I can fasten these to the car instead of welding them.

I have the chrome bumpers and bumper-ettes already. I'm just not sure I want to put that effort into this car. I'm looking for a happy medium.

Like you say, all these are getting cut-up and there won't be many around in a few years.

Where did you see the fiberglass bumps? Are they a product for sale? I was thinking about making some, but I would much rather just buy them.

Get a section of mandrel bent u shaped tubing and make them from that. Hot Rod did a '57 Chevy about 20 years ago and used that to fill in the gun sights on the hood. It worked great. Holding the U directly in front of you ( just like you see it here), make a straigh cut down the center of each leg all the way through to the bottom. The resulting piece will be the shape of the missing area. Weld flat steel to the back of it and glue it to the car, or drill a hole and bolt it on. No need to weld it to the car.

For the front, get a set of driving lights with flat backs and mount them on the bumper mounts by placing the center of the back directly up against the mounting area. Mark where your holes should be and drill hole in the back of the lights to match the bumper bolts. Cut a RWA grill to fit around the frame horns and mount it flush with the back of the lights.

OR, mount bumperets there like little fangs.

I made bumps out of styrofoam covered with bondo, and attached with trim adhesive. Still attached and looking good a year later.

I took a chunk of foam, carved it to shape, covered it in tinfoil, and bondo'd it over. Primed, sanded, and painted. Quick and dirty, but most importantly, cheap!

For that matter, while we're talking about cheap-and-reversible, my grille is from a '74, painted silver and flush-mounted...

Just by bolting it onto the bumper mounts. Easy and cheap!

I love the idea of the chromed metal bumps. That would look awesome.

You can use FG over pink foam board w/ the right goo.

( I can't remember the term of the stuff to save my life.)
