Trouble is manuals and parts books usually show the Girling rear backing plates the wrong way around, with the wheel cylinder at the top.
The correct way to position the backing plate is shown in later Moss Motors parts catalogues. The wheel cylinder goes to the bottom at an angle - rear of the axle housing, so the handbrake lever picks up the cable across the back of the diff.
Then the bleeder can correctly discharge fluid bubbles from the highest point of the wheel cylinder.
