Rear Axle Removal

I want to start removing the rear axle on the BE. My referance book covers the removal of half elip spring rear axle but not 1/4 (says its about the same proceedure). Does any one have any advice and or referances. I can wing it, but I don't want a spring in the face. Also could use a better referance text for the restoration of the BE.

Just go ahead and wing it, that spring is not going anywhere, Car on stands and jack under the differencal. Just take the weight off axle when you unbolt so there is no tension on the bolts..

Paul, here's the pertinent section from the manual. I find it easier to do it this way and remove the springs from the body separately.

What manual are you using? This is for the later midgets but almost all the mechanicals are the same. Take at look at this online manual.

Chris, that looks like a copy of the Bentley book.
The blurb I posted I copied from my early Sprite Bentley.

I got the axel, springs and dampers etc out today! Actually, I got every bolt and nut removed yesterday (in about 2 hours) except one final bolt linking the axle and the springs. Returned today with a Bigger Hammer and punched it through. Then removed the rest. Things are very solid on the body. Put penetrating oil on the front suspension and hope to remove it next. I know this was recently discussed. Wish me luck. Hope to have the car on stands by the weekend.
