Rear axle nut wrench for rent anyone?

Rich,

The nut is 1/4" thick, but the tool will need to be made like Randy's picture above so it will clear the threads on the housing. Randy's picture of the installed nut on the hub shows the threads on the housing.

Please post a picture of your finished product!!

checked with sears and found it was a 2 3/16 12 point! useless! I am planning on greasing or replacing my hub bearings in the near future, I will just mill a 8 point tool with a counter bore and 1/2 inch drive from a scrap piece of 4130 cold roll and heat treat it. Michael.

Rich, the last time I had to remove the rear axle nut I put together a kit to make this job easier. If you still need the socket, contact me directly at sbyers@ec.rr.com and I can send it to you along with the other items.
