Next weekend I'll be changing those gaskets on my sprite and figure I may as well change out the axle oil while I'm down there, what are people using? Anything to avoid? I've got he standard axles/differential. 67 sprite.
 
90 weight, any good rear end lub.
 
What about Synthetic? I plan on changing my gearbox and differential oil.
 
Synthetic gear oil won't hurt your rear end, but you really won't see any benefit from it, normal petro-based gear oil will last forever inther without even hardly changing color. I don't have any problems with using synthetic gear oil in your "Triumph" gear box, (A-series engine gearboxes use motor oil) I suggest Mobil One, is what most of the racers use, it holds up better than even the racing gear oils like Redline.
 
I've been using Valvoline 85W-90 in mine. Not sure if your Sprite has brass synchro hubs in the gearbox, because some of the GL-5 oils (about the only thing you can find today) have been known to be bad for brass synchros. Okay for the rear end since there's no brass in there, but you might want to look for Redline MT90, since that's GL-4 and safe for brass.
 
Good point on the motor oil Hap, I forgot that the older gearboxes called for that. My 1500 calls for SAE 90 in both.
