TR2/3/3A Rear Apron Replacement

After a few years of procrastination I really need to replace the rear apron panel on my TR3A (pre TS60000). I have a new replacement panel. My hesitation to start this project is how to remove the old piece. Is it welded to the trunk floor panel and spare tire compartment pan? It would really be nice if it is seam sealer or something like that. There really isn't a lot of room to get in to cut metal if I need to.

It is mostly spot welded. Beyond that, I think anything I tell you will likely scare you.

Yeah, I did it on mine. Lots of spot welds around the spare tire opening, along the boot channel, and along the closing piece at the bottom. I actually purchased a spot welder just to get this piece re-installed. It was a good investment.

A couple words of advice. After you fit it and clamp or tack it in place, refit your rear fenders and check for alignment along the rear seam. Check the depth of the channel for your spare tire cover. You may find that it is very shallow compared to the original.

Good luck.
Cheers
Tush
