Yes indeed. Not sure I was much help as a navigator, but I did greatly enjoy doing it. It's not often I get to ride in a TR3 (especially such a nice one), as I rarely let others drive mine.

Hey Don.Funny you should bring up the bubble wrap car.It was at the Richmond VTR show some years back,{2004 I think} where Im pretty sure it won Best of Concours.I watched the owner arguing with the judges anytime he saw them write down any type of deduction.This was a complete violation of all the rules of concours judging by the way.In concours,stand back,let the judges do their thing,and answer any questions asked,but that's in a real concours event. What a joke for a VTR national event,to have a car win Best of Concours with it's rear bumpers on upside down as well as other defects. I guess you cant expect much more from car clubs run by cliques.As for the mud at TRF in 2003 in sure I still have some stuck somewhere under my Ice Blue TR2,but it's now covered with mud from the British Invasion shows in Stowe Vermont..I never saw it rain any harder than that Saturday night after the show in Indiana Pa.Driving my car back to motel was like driving a boat.I,myself fall somewhere in the middle of the Trailer Queen and every day driver stuff.I have a concours 54 TR2 and for the long trips,I use my trailer.The best part about a trailer is it's like having a portable garage and no worries at night.For daily driving I use my 64 TR4 I have owned since 1972 in High School and regularly flog it to an inch of it's life.I've built it twice and I'll someday build it again.Something to consider.Having restored quite a few cars over the years,I've always wondered why many people will spend tons of money on common type cars, when they could find a rare model.They would spend pretty much the same money and have something special.With the economy in the shape it's in I think that's very long money for a TR3B,but it depends on how bad you want it.If ya wanna dance ya gotta pay the band.

John - My 1958 TR3A is a consistent 2nd place concours winning car with over 100,00 miles on it since I completed my full body-off restoration in 1990. 7225 miles to VTR in Portland Oregon (2nd) in 2000. 2nd at VTR in Breckonridge Colo. in 2001 (5225 miles) etc. etc. My TR has only once been trailered due to a mechanical problem. It is my driver/concours car, if one can say that. 2nd at many TRA events. 2nd at VTR Valley Forge too in 2007 (384 points).

As for the mud, my tent that year at the Roadster Factory was one of the first there and I put it on a slight slope. But still the water got in and flowed down the slope inside and I had wet feet. To try to keep my TR3A a bit clean, I parked it out on the road in front of the main TRF building. No motels for me. I can buy a lot of TR parts with the money I save by camping.

Nice car Don.When Im in my TR4 Im 16 years old again so I know what you mean.It's great to own a real time machine.
