REALLY bright lights....

heheh... funny.... it started raining right after I finished installing the alt'nater, and hasn't stopped since. Ex-roomies let me use their drive way to install the new alt'nater, and used the time to badger me a bit by doing things like asking, "want me to start the car?" ... then 30 seconds later, "how bout now?" real wise guy he is... heh

Anyways, I stayed for SciFi Friday (/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif). It's more fun to watch the SciFi Friday shows on their monsterous 70" TV than it is on my wimpy lil 21" TV. Anyways, it was around midnight or midnight-thirty, *cold*, and raining when I left there. So that gave me a good test run for the new charging system. I decided it'd be a good idea to take the B for a spin to give it a good run down with the new alt'nater. Initially after start-up the charge light went out with the choked high-idle speed. After letting the engine to run about 30 to 60 seconds, I started driving. From there, with lights, heater, and wipers running, the charge light glowed dimly and got brighter as the engine speed went up. However, that lasted only for a short period of time (maybe a minute or two). Once the charge light stopped glowing all together, I felt good about the installation. I drove the car about 10 to 15 miles around the area.

The first thing I noticed after the charge light went completely out, was *all* my lights are considerably brighter than they were before the swap. They're not as bright as they were when I started this thread, but they're definitely brighter than before (headlights were a dim yellow before).

I'm glad I put that thing in ... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not as happy as yer battery is /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

prolly true doc... the cranks have been slowing down over time.... I'll be interested to see if the cranking power has gone back to what it was like when the battery was new. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
