Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

So do you use standard hose clamps on these
fancy green silicone radiator hoses or what's the
story, here?

Randall, I believe that you just answered your own question.....

How about those new Gates heat on clamps that Moss sells? They look really neat, but I'm not sure that I'm ready to trust them.

Yeah ... but I wouldn't pay extra for green hoses, either. If I'm going out of my way to make it "original", then might as well do it right. If not, then I go for the most effective solution.

But I'm weird that way, so of course everyone should make their own decision.

Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

The green silicone hoses aren't quite the same green as original. I have then on my car and you can use either the original wire type or any other hose clamp you might want.

Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

Well.

I have the green hoses. They are from TRF. I can't believe they are silicon. I have blue silicon hoses on my Mustang GT. They are not at all alike.
Where do silicon hoses for TR6 originate?
FWIW I wouldn't use anything but the "Aero" style clamps.

Keep on.

Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

Tosh,

You and I have green hoses from TRF, but they are not silicone.

The only silicone TR6 hoses available that I know of is a recent addition at Moss and they are very different than what we have. And you can only get an upper and lower rad hose, not the heater hoses.

And one of them is $45.00.

New Gates heat shrink clamps are below it.

Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

How'd you get em off.(Doc speak)

Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

Mine are still a bit different than that, lighter green and no pattern. Came from Cambrige Motorsport in the UK. Purchased in 2001.

Re: Fancy green silicone radiator hoses

Doc,

You cut um' off after heatin' um' on.

Understood.

Whoa! Them is buff.

Would it not be somewhat depressing if during removal of the Gates heat shrink clamp one were to slice inadvertently through the hose? Must be a special cutter for that sort of thing.

OTOH a complete set of those pieces sure would trim a showpiece engine compartment.

Keep on.
