"Re curving " the Distributor?

Before I send my TR3A dist off to Advanced Distributors could someone explain to me what is invoved in "recurving" a dist? I have a mild street cam, header ,4A intake manifold. How do they determine what advance is required and how do they physically alter the dist to match the mods? Karl

I believe that Jeff has a fact sheet that you should fill out with the details of your engine and trans, fuel system (carbs), exhaust, rear axle ratio, etc.

He will then take the stock curve in your distributor and based on what you have, set up the distributor internally to begin to advance the timing through the centrifugal advance at a certain point that will take advantage of your performance enhancements. That advance will continue up to a point that will create the most power for your car.

The advance weights, and springs are generally changed to make the best match for your engine.

My TR3 is stock, but Jeff recurved my distributor to provide a smoother advance.

I believe you said you may have a leaky vacuum advance mechanism. I'm confidant Jeff can test and if necessary replace that for you.
