Yabba dabba doo !!

I can doo !! Whoo Whoo !!

Gonna make me a carb bowl heat shield that'll
function with Ratco Tony's great cable throttle linkage.

If'en I ken see it mah mind's eye, I ken design it
and if I ken design it, I ken build it. period.

Tinster field design law No. 1-

"Design it so idiots can fabricate it."

Now, old Tinster is surely an idiot when it comes to auto mechanical
stuff but I'm gonna do this thang!!

Stay tuned for a Tinster detailed "how to".

I be choppin' and grindin' amd choppin' !!

Carburettor heat shield.

Cutting and grinding TRF carb heat shield
to fit Ratco cable carb linkage.

Dry fit accomplished> nuff for today!
Done deed!!

At this point it is butt-ugly, but knowing you it will be fine-tuned and powdered coated in the near future.

Too, you should be wearing welder's gloves when using that cutting wheel. Those things have no mercy.

there's suppose to be a heat shield on our 6's?

A photo OP.

In the real world, I;m wearing heavy gloves and eye protection!!

A good guess on the powder coating!! Tomorrow!!

That's all well and good, but who is Ken and which part is his design and which part did he build?

Dale,

I don't speak Spanish.

Does that mean that Ken's your barber and he fabricates TR6 heat shields as a side job?

No, no, no Don. I don't think so. Look closely at the words.

Ken is definitely the barber and he uses Clairol.

I just don't know what he has to do with the heat shields.

I think he said, <span style="font-style: italic">"The cheese is old and moldy. Where is the bathroom?"</span>

Well BLARGH!! I say !!

Poor old fisherman Dale knows just about zip of things automotive
related. This basic law having been proved again and again.

So please excuse my rookie attempt at constructing twin heat
shields that will function with the Ratco throttle cable linkage.

Maybe Doc can 'splain the foil side orientations, double
insul layers and 1/16" airgaps between insul and steel.

For sure, this know-nuthin' owner don't have a clue what
I yam doin'. I hate being automotive brain dead!!

Dale,

One layer of insulation between the two pieces of metal is all that you need... And should of course be unable to burn.

Actually I was told by a couple of people that all that's really needed is a few mm (maybe about 1/8") of air in between the two layers. So if you bolt on the outer shield with say some fibre washers to get the distance you need you're good to go.

Basically any surface that faces heat needs to be double layered.

Well now, me hardies!!

Tinster ain't a wrench by a longshot. Fact.
Down in the dirt arQ, field designer I yam. Fact.

I present yous a twin carb heat shield for a TR6 with a
Ratco cable throttle upgrade.

A bit tricky to fabricate but if Tinster can make it,
anyone can!!

Ummm Dale,

You're not planning on leaving that insulation exposed are you? That's a fire hazard if I ever saw one. That will catch any oil or gas that could potentially leak and create a smoldering/flaming mess right under gas filled carbs.
