Range Rover Diesel Conversion? WVO

Has anyone ever considered putting a non-Land Rover Diesel motor into a Range Rover Classic? There is a 93” Classic down the street from me with a blown motor, the rest of the truck is good. I would like to put a Powerstroke TD or a Benz 5cyl TD into it. My goal would be to run waste vegetable oil in it, I do this with my 83 300SD Benz now. Are there any suggestions or comments?

Pretty labor intensive. On some of the other forums, it has been done. Don't know of any pre made bellhousing adapters, so may have to use engine and tranny, transfer case can be used. 3.9 and 4.0 gas are pretty cheap used and most shops or LR parts places will be pretty forward on what you get. Rover TDI 5 are diesel and they do run them on veg oil in England and other European counties. If you can do the work be prepared for modifications and fabrications. I think the 93 is not a programmed engine ECU to BECM problem, but may be wrong if vehicle has a immobilizer and alarm. There is a place in Glasgow, KY that is a Rover breaking yard. They advertise on CraigsList, might see what they can do to help.
