radio wiring

Hello everyone. I purchased a British Leyland radio off eBay. The unit has three wires coming out of one side of the radio. There is a black wire by itself and there is a double set of brown wires and one has a yellow stripe on it. Does anyone know how to connect these wires? I think the two brown wires are the wires for the speakers and the black wire is the hot wire for the power. Just need confirmation.
The weather here in the Carolinas is in the low 60s so i am still driving my 1973 Mallard Green MGB. Sun is shining and I am going for a spin.

Hi Jim - the double brown is for the speaker. Single black is power. There may be a ground (earth) switch depending on the year the radio was made. If so, be sure you set it to match how your B is grounded (positive or negative). Also, you may need to adjust the "trim" for higher frequency (right side of dial) AM stations; there's a trim screw you can reach through a small hole, usually on the chassis back end. Hope this helps!

Radios. Spent biggest part of today installing a radio in my B. Son and husband decided, after awhile, "UH UH." So off I go to Circuit City. (kids were highly impressed with the 'cool car' and were more than eager to work on it)

Three hours later, I have a great new stereo and speakers (that I decided I needed when I got there) 60 degrees in St. Louis in December, top is down, I'm on the interstate. Hair blowing, stereo cranking.

**POOF** Radio quits, 3 miles from Circuit City. Go back, no more of those stereos in stock. Call 4 stores, find one. By now it's 6pm.

So tommorrow I get to start all over.

On the upside, was an absolutely glorious day for driving! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif
