Radio Wire Colors

I'm getting ready to get my 74B out for a run this weekend and thought I'd install a cd/radio. The unit I have will fit, but I cannot figure out the color scheme of the radio wires from the MG. The CD wires are clearly labeled, but I could get them hooked up correctly.

Suggestions?

There should be a green & pink in the console area. Thats a switched circuit for the radio. As for the memory you can use the purple as it is a constant hot circuit.

Tom, that info. will definately help, but do you know the colors of the wires going to Left +, Right -, etc?

There are no stock speaker wires. You will have to check the speakers themselves to see what color wires are connected to them.

Thanks, that's good t know. I played about with the wires this evening and I think I've found a combination that will work. I'll do the final hook up tomorrow.

I got the CD/Radio in and didn't have to remove the front dash/panel. I was able to get everything in from behind. The unit fit in nicely and with the hardware provided (some kind of sleeve) no screws were required.

The unit is a KOSS MS503 that I got for $20 at a Circuit City clearance table. I works great, but when the roads are too bumpy (or I go over RR tracks), CD's skip.

I now need to upgrade my speakers...

I didn't secure mine, and it's never skipped (Kenwood). Putting a block of foam rubber under the radio can help absorb any shock from it flopping up and down too.

No, I didn't secure the radio in any way except for the flanged sleeve that pushes up agains the inside of the console. The sleeve "locks" thus keeping the radio from sliding out. I think I will try the block of foam idea.
