Radio Power Question

I'm installaing a new CD player in my 80 B and am running into an issue w/ power.
I found the wht/grn wire coming from the ignition switch that is supposed to provide the main power for the radio (I'll prob tie into cig. lighter's purple for always-on power), hooked it up, started the car....no juice to the radio. unhooked radio, started car and used a test lamp on the wire...no light.
I did a continuity test from that end of the wire to where it comes out of the plastic junction box under the dash by the steering column and it signals fine.

At this point I'm at a loss.. Am I missing something?

I'm thinking that I might try to locate another ignition-switched power source instead of this wht/grn one.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Did you blow a fuse under the hood? Oh, and you want just a solid green wire for switched positive, and Brown for the continuous on memory lead.

So, any solid green wire I find I can tap off of for the main power to the radio?

I figure I'll just tap off the purple on the cigarette lighter for the always-on power for the radio presets.

Thanks!

Test to see if you actually have 12 volts coming from the ignition switch on the green/white wire when in the acc position. Then check to see if you have voltage on green/white wire when the ignition switch is in the on position. Then check the connector by the ignition switch. The green/white wire is the only wire that is energized in the acc position.
You either have a faulty ignition switch or a faulty connection.
